Established in 1969, the Booker Prize is
awarded for the best full-length novel written in English by a citizen
of the UK, the Commonwealth, Ireland or South Africa. Past Winners
include Schindler's Arc (1982), The English
Patient (1992), and Midnight's Children (1981),
for which Salman Rushdie also won "Best of 25 years of the
Booker Prize" in 1993.
